Custom Tile Shower
Demo
At Affinity we treat every client’s home like it is our own. First thing first – drop cloths down – plastic up and any pictures or valuables on shared walls of the renovation are carefully removed. Demo begins by carefully and efficiently removing any items to be reused or thrown away. Unlike the demos on tv we use precision during demolition to keep dust at a minimum. Sweeping and cleaning happens regularly during demolition and all our shop-vacs are equipped with HEPA filtration.
Day 1
Repair
At last, out with the old. Now we get a chance to see what’s underneath. Any rotten lumber under or behind the shower, rotten flooring around the toilet, thin set damaged sub-floor, leaking plumbing or electrical code violations will all be fixed. Repairs will be made before getting back on track with the renovation.
Day 2 & 3
Rough Mechanical
Any rough framing, plumbing, electrical and HVAC changes or updates that need to be made will take place at this point in the process. All framing and mechanical systems inside the renovation will be made to meet or exceed the Ohio Revised Code standard.
Day 4 & 5
Shower Prep & Drywall
Next the shower is prepared for tile. Schluter Kerdi board is hung plumb on all walls to ensure the best possible product for tile adhesion. Next a dry pack mortar bed is installed at a 1/4" per foot slope towards the drain. This allows for all water to flow down the drain and not puddle on the floor potentially causing mold or mildew. Lastly a 24-hour flood test is preformed to verify that no leaks are present. While the flood test is occurring, all drywall is hung and prepped for paint
Day 6 - 9
Prime and Paint
Before any tile is set or the cabinets, countertop and trim are installed, the next step is to prime and paint the ceiling and walls. Two coats of white paint will be applied on the ceiling and two coats of Sherwin Williams Emerald will be applied to the walls in your choice of color.
Day 10 & 11
Tile
Next comes the fun part - Tile. The tile of your choice will be laid on the shower floor, walls and the within the niche. Here at Affinity, we view installing tile as a form of art. Because of this it takes a little extra time to get every cut just right and everything looking perfect. But we promise it’s going to be worth the wait.
Day 12 - 17
Cabinets, Countertops & Trim
Your project is now starting to come together and with the custom cabinets and trim installed your vision is becoming reality. All cabinets and countertops are custom designed, made and finished to your vision and desires.
Day 18
Final Mechancial
All plumbing, electrical and HVAC fixtures are installed
Day 19
Trim
At last...the final steps of the project. All trim and other accessories are installed - shower doors, towel and toilet paper bars, cabinet hardware, robe hooks, etc.
Day 20
** Length of install may very due to the complexity of the tile patter chosen or the amount of repairs/preparation needed
